Translators: Emily Wilson and Homer's Odyssey

Emily Wilson is the first woman to publish a translation of Homer's into English. This happened in 2017. There are 60 translations of the Odyssey, but no woman had until now attempted to translate this text.
Emily Wilson talks about the value of translation within academia and the impact of gender on translation.

For more information it is worth watching the talk organised by the British Center of Literary Translation (BCLT), based at UEA in Norwich, where Emily Wilson talks further about her work.
