  • How the language recruitment process works through the Directorate General-Translation.
  • Different opportunities available and ways to apply - tenders and speculative applications, and other channels such as competitions for Administrators with foreign languages.
  • The types of engagements available - on-going contracts, temporary in-house staff, one-off contracts.
  • Creating an acceptable CV - Europass in English and/or in French or German.
  • The types of work assigned.
Speaker biography: Giovanna Tomaro
Giovanna is an English, French and Russian into Italian translator based in London. She has 19 years’ experience as a freelance translator and editor with specialist knowledge in the areas of law, marketing and human rights. She has also taught as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Westminster (MA Translation and Diploma in Translation) and is currently a Language Checker and Project Assistant at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
