How to embed Yammer in Blackboard
In a new online teaching landscape, it is very important to open up flexible channels of communication so that you can be more present for your students, and so that your students can easily communicate with each other and access peer support, if needed.
There are a number of ways you can achieve a regular connection. Yammer is very good at replicating a social media environment, similar to Facebook, which many students are already used to. So this is one of the tools I am using. As a moderator or course leader, it usually helps to post often. It does not always have to be something very serious. Light-touch humour, and other types of content that link somehow to your subject, without being the usual academic texts, will help to add variety and keep everyone interested.
In order to make Yammer more visible and accessible it is a good idea to embed it into the virtual learning environment you normally work in. In this tutorial, I am going to talk you through how to embed Yammer into Blackboard.
